-Symphonic Band-
Symphonic band is an intermediate/advanced level band that is for players with a few years of experience playing. Each year students this class have the opportunity to perform various concerts in the community. Being in the class also opens up opportunities for All-state bands, honor bands, Jazz Club and many other opportunities. This class is worth a fine arts credit and is a full year commitment. |
-String Orchestra-
This class is an intermediate level string orchestra. Students should have some experience on their instrument. Students in this class learn string technique and ensemble skills. This class prepares students for higher level orchestra music well also having various performances throughout the year. |
-Percussion Ensemble-
Percussion Ensemble is a full year class offered to intermediate/advanced drummers. If you have various other musical experience on piano or another instrument, see Mr. Black. Students in this class learn different facets of percussion including drumline, contemporary and traditional. They perform on their own at games as well as with the Symphonic band. |
-Symphony Orchestra-
Symphony Orchestra is an auditioned, advanced level orchestra ensemble. It is a full year commitment and an honors level group. Students in this class have the opportunity to learn and perform advanced level music. Students who wish to Audition should contact Mr. Black. |
-Jazz Band-
Highland High School Currently runs a .5 Credit class that is a great option for Symphonic Band members who want to learn about the Genre of Jazz and have extra performance opportunities.
